Welcome to Nina. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. Your privacy is extremely important to us, and we are committed to protecting your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 User Content

To provide you with the Nina service, we collect and store the following information you create within the app:

• Travel Journals: Trip titles, destinations, dates, tags, and descriptions
• Moments: Moment descriptions, locations, weather information, and mood data
• Photos and Images: Photos you add to trips and moments, cover images, and profile avatars
• Account Information: Your nickname and avatar preferences

This content is stored on our secure servers to enable synchronization across your devices and to provide backup functionality.

1.2 Account Information

When you create an account, we generate a unique user identifier (UUID) to associate your content with your account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information unless you choose to provide it.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Nina does NOT collect the following types of information:

• Analytics data or usage statistics
• Advertising identifiers or tracking information
• Device identifiers for marketing purposes
• Location data beyond what you explicitly add to moments
• Browsing behavior or app usage patterns
• Personal information such as name, email, or phone number (unless you provide it)
• Payment information (handled securely by Apple through the App Store)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain the Nina service
• To store and synchronize your travel journals and moments across your devices
• To enable backup and restore functionality
• To provide customer support when requested
• To ensure the security and integrity of our service

We do NOT use your information for:

• Advertising or marketing purposes
• Analytics or tracking
• Sharing with third parties
• Creating user profiles for commercial purposes

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Server Storage

Your travel journals, moments, photos, and other content are stored on secure servers operated by us. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL protocols
• Encryption at Rest: Your data is encrypted when stored on our servers
• Access Controls: Only authorized personnel have access to our servers, and access is logged and monitored
• Secure Infrastructure: Our servers are hosted in secure data centers with physical security measures
• Regular Security Audits: We regularly review and update our security practices

4.2 Data Transmission

When you use Nina, data is transmitted between your device and our servers over encrypted connections. We use secure protocols to ensure your data cannot be intercepted or accessed by unauthorized parties.

5. Third-Party Services

Nina does NOT use any third-party services for:

• Analytics or tracking (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.)
• Advertising (no ad networks or advertising SDKs)
• Data processing or storage (we operate our own infrastructure)
• User authentication (we use our own account system)

The only third-party service integrated with Nina is Apple's App Store for in-app purchases, which is handled entirely by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy.

6. Photo Library and Camera Access

Nina requests access to your photo library and camera for the following purposes:

• To allow you to select cover images for your trips
• To allow you to add photos to your travel moments
• To allow you to set a profile avatar
• To enable you to take photos directly within the app

When you grant photo library access, Nina only accesses the specific photos you select. These photos are uploaded to our secure servers as part of your travel content. Photos taken with the camera are also stored on our servers.

You can revoke photo library or camera access at any time through your iOS device settings, though this may limit certain features of the app.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or regulatory purposes.

7.2 Your Right to Delete

You have the right to delete your data at any time:

• You can delete individual trips, moments, or photos within the app
• You can delete your entire account, which will result in the deletion of all your data from our servers
• To request account deletion, please contact us at support@nina.com

Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting or backing up your content before deletion if you wish to preserve it.

8. Data Access and Export

You have the right to access and export your data:

• You can view all your data within the Nina app
• You can export your travel journals and moments
• To request a copy of all your data in a machine-readable format, please contact us at support@nina.com

We will provide your data within 30 days of your request.

9. Children's Privacy

Nina is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@nina.com, and we will delete such information from our servers.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy, regardless of where it is stored.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page with an updated effective date
• Providing notice within the Nina app
• Sending an email notification if you have provided your email address

Your continued use of Nina after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Service Availability and Internet Connection

Nina requires an internet connection to synchronize your data with our servers. While some features may be available offline, full functionality requires an active internet connection. We are not responsible for service interruptions due to:

14. Data Backup

We maintain regular backups of your data to protect against data loss. However, we cannot guarantee that all data will be recoverable in all circumstances. We recommend that you maintain your own backups of important content.
